Interpretation Licence Class
(According to the LPKP Act 1987 and the Road Traffic Rules)
Carrier Lorry (A)
- Vehicle carrying goods for hire or payment for or related to any commerce or business.
Carrier Lorry (B)
- Vehicle carrying own goods or related with any commerce or business.
Stage bus
- Bus that goes back and forth along a route approved by the board to carry passengers. The service has different levels of fares with separate fare, schedule and fare schedule for each fare level.
- controlled fare rate, age limit 15 years old.
Express bus
- Bus that goes back and forth along a route approved by the board with schedule and fare, to carry passengers for separate fares. This service does not have a fare level for a distance less than thirty two kilometres
- Controlled fare rate, age limit 10 years old.
School bus
- Bus that is used exclusively for carrying school students or staff or any other institutions of education.
- Controlled fare rate, age limit 20 years old
Workers bus
- Bas that is used to carry workers in any industry to their work place and back from work.
- No age limit, fare rate not controlled.
Shuttle bus
- Bus that does not have level of fares used to carry passengers at a circuitous route with separate fares from one permanent base covering a distance of more than seven kilometres.
Mini bus
- Bas that has a seating capacity of less than 26 people (including the driver) which is used to carry passengers with separate fares.
Charter bus
- Bus that is hired as a whole for a journey with payment made to the owner by the person who hired the bus.
Taxi
- Motor vehicle with seating capacity not more than six people (including the driver) which is used to carry passengers for any journey in return of a fare.
- Engine capacity not less than 1450cc, metered, have an operation zone, controlled fare rate, age limit 7 years old and have 3 types of services which are budget (engine capacity 1500cc-2000cc), premier (engine capacity 2000cc and above) and executive (engine capacity 2000cc and above, operating throughout Peninsular Malaysia).
Car for hire
- Motor vehicle with seating capacity not more than six people, or in areas approved by the board, twelve people (in all conditions including the driver) that is used to carry passengers for a journey in return of separate fares by them.
Airport taxi
- Motor vehicle with seating capacity of not more than seven people (including the driver) used solely for transport of passengers to and from the airport in return of a fare and being operated at a permanent base in an approved area.
Limousine taxi
- Motor vehicle with seating capacity of not more than seven people (including the driver) and operated from one permanent base or in one designated area in return for a fare.
- Engine capacity of not less than 1950cc, based in hotels, not metered and controlled fare rate.
Car for hire and drive
- Motor vehicle rented to be driven by the renter.
